Watch Review – San Martin SN0148-GX

Posted on November 28, 2025November 28, 2025 by Richie

While we don’t tend to review Chinese watches often, specifically those that tend to sell via AliExpress, we have dabbled in that market a couple of times.  Our very first review on here was the Proxima PX1701, a rather unique dressy diver with a translucent dial that really highlighted the date wheel, and prior to…

Accessory Review – Transform LDN VI 6 Slot Watch Box

Posted on October 23, 2025October 23, 2025 by Richie

Collecting watches is a fun hobby, right?  Finding that next piece that speaks to you, searching for that exact combination of style, colour and complications that’ll have you dumbly smiling at your wrist for the next few weeks, months or, hopefully, years.  But when you’ve got a little collection going, you need to start asking…

Watch Review – Casio G-SHOCK ‘Manga’ GA-2100MNG-2A

Posted on October 6, 2025 by Richie

While it often seems like all of the good, quirky and fun ideas in watches come from the Microbrand scene, it’s easy to ignore the larger, more-established brands.  Casio are a case in point.  Their G-SHOCK range comes in roughly a billion different hues and styles but it was the 2100 Manga series that really…

Watch Review – Bulova Jet Star

Posted on September 6, 2025 by Richie

We recently reviewed another watch by the American timepiece manufacturers Bulova, their famous Lunar Pilot and while we loved a lot of things about the watch – that true lunar history, the gorgeous inverted panda layout and the wonderful blue chronograph pushers – there were three main things that we didn’t care for.  The first…

Watch Review – Bulova Lunar Pilot

Posted on July 15, 2025 by Richie

We don’t know if you’ve ever noticed something about Omega but very, very occasionally, like once in a while, they’ll mention that they made the watches that went to the moon.  Yeah, I know.  They’re very subtle about it.  But what if we were to tell you that Bulova (Bull-over?  Bullo-va?  Bully’s Special Prize?) also…

Watch Review – Brew Retrograph Lumint

Posted on May 30, 2025May 30, 2025 by Richie

Brew are an American microbrand, founded by Jonathon Ferrer, with a philosophy based around savouring (hey, we invented these words, we’ll use our spelling) good times and good company, but with a design aesthetic based on a good, old-fashioned coffee break. Their watches generally favour (again, our language, buddy) a squared-off, retro-inspired form factor, inspired…

Watch Review – Citizen Perpetual Chrono A.T

Posted on May 25, 2025March 5, 2026 by Richie

The Citizen Perpetual Chrono A.T is, to put it lightly, quite the watch.  I found it last year when looking to spend some vouchers at a major department store in the UK.  I’d been window shopping for a couple of days, trying to find the right watch to mark a landmark birthday (I won’t say…

Watch Review – Casio MTD-130D-1A3V

Posted on May 12, 2025May 12, 2025 by Richie

The MTD-130D-1A3V is a cheap-but-classy field watch from Casio that arrived last year in 2024 and caught a little bit of attention because of similarities to Seiko’s Alpinist range.  And it’s probably the watch that we can most credit with getting us back into watches generally.  That’s because at the time our search criteria was…

Watch Review – Revelot Mecadromo

Posted on May 5, 2025 by Richie

We’ve had four Revelots (Rev-ELO?  Reve-LOT?  Rev-enge of the LIVING DEAD?) here at Watch Country and while this is the latest one to get a review, it was actually the first one we picked up.  Thereby introducing us to the Malaysian microbrand.  The Mecadromo range came out last year (2024) and wowed the microbrand scene…

Watch Review – Henry Archer Tesseract

Posted on April 21, 2025April 22, 2025 by Richie

In the world of watch collecting, there’s a lot said about your grail watches.  That one piece that you wait and save for, the end boss of the videogame so to speak.  For normal collectors that usually means upping your game price-wise.  Stepping into the luxury market with something like your first Omega or stepping…

Watch Review – Revelot Terra Fortune

Posted on April 9, 2025April 22, 2025 by Richie

We’re big fans of Revelot (Revel-oh, Reve-lot, Reverend Horton Heat?!).  They’ve been on a super-hot streak of putting out watches with really striking looks.  We started with the Mecadromo (we’ll review that one soon) and then picked up two of their gorgeous Hexmariner 39 range.  But as soon as the Hexmariners launched and went through…

Watch Review – Proxima PX1701

Posted on April 7, 2025April 22, 2025 by Richie

Proxima, to us, are the quintessential Chinese microbrand.  What they lack in terms of pure quality and engineering they make up for with price and some interesting designs.  But does the PX1701 do enough to wash away the AliExpress stigma? Floating around the £200 mark (honestly, AliExpress prices vary so wildly that stating a price…

Watch Review – Revelot Hexmariner v2 39

Posted on April 4, 2025January 26, 2026 by Richie

The Hexmariner 39 is a dive watch from the exciting Malaysian-based microbrand Revelot (Reveh-LOT?  Reveh-LOW?  The Rezillos?).  The 39, of course, being a reference to the case size which is a welcome reduction from last year’s Hexmariner 42.  Those of us with skinny wrists are going to be very happy with that change. We’ve already…

Watch Review – Phoibos Wavemaster

Posted on April 2, 2025July 12, 2026 by Richie

Better to be alone than in bad company. The Wave Master is, as the name suggests, a dive watch from Phoibos, the Hong Kong-based microbrand who have been making waves (shut up, me) and growing their reputation in the microbrand scene thanks to some striking designs and decent technical chops. We picked this one up…

I really love the GHOST by @eightfivewatches. It's so comfortable and unassuming. Great EL on it too. The only digital I really need.

Also, and this can't be overstated, they are dirt cheap.

It's not the most specced up watch but, for some reason (read: the dial), it's the one I get asked about the most.

The Estria by @monterawatches does turn heads.

The follow up looks to have made some decent improvements too.

I've never had a need to use a tachymeter. A pulsometer at least has a bit more utility for a similar aesthetic.

Had to do it. I'm in the mood for something square to break up the circle monopoly in my display box, red is the best watch colour and I'm a tart for full lume. Also, after loving the @mcquaide_watches C1's big crown, I'm glad to see one here. So, I just had to pre-order the @areanostalgiawatches Mantel.

Will it work on my frankly bullshit 6.25 inch wrist? Let's see. But already from the photo there are like ten details that I want to get right into.

Between this and the @walkerandcrown Revival (I'm waiting on that Electric Lagoon release), it's looking good for square watches right now.

Excitement!

Been away for a few days with just one watch.

I'm down south with the @smwatches_skb SN0148GX. At the National Film Museum.

Heading home to London for a few days. Wanted something solid but beautiful. TBH I've been waiting for a green watch to come and replace it in the box but so far nothing has beaten it.
